Google Analytics is a useful tool that gives you insight into how many page visits you're getting on your storEDGE marketing website or Rental Center. Additionally, Google Tag manager is a great way to track conversions and gather data that will aid in remarketing your storage business to potential customers who have already visited your storEDGE marketing website or Rental Center.
Note: Not all storEDGE marketing websites can be connected to Google Analytics and Tag Manager through the storEDGE software. How to connect Google Analytics and Tag Manager
Before connecting Google Analytics and Tag Manager, you must have accounts set up with Google Analytics. Visit https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/ to sign up for Google Analytics or https://www.google.com/analytics/tag-manager/ to sign up for Tag Manager. You'll receive a code from each of these products that you can use to connect your accounts.
Once you have the needed codes from Google, visit your Corporate Settings and find the Analytics section under the Marketing heading.
The next screen provides a place to add the codes you received from Google. Saving your codes in this section will effectively connect these accounts to both your storEDGE marketing website and your Rental Center.
Important Note: If you see that code has already been entered into these fields, please do not remove the code. Removing it will prevent storEDGE from seeing valuable historical data about your facility's Rental Center or website. If you’d like to change Google Analytics accounts, contact us at email@example.com.
What does Google Analytics do?
Google Analytics provides you with insight into your website’s traffic. You can learn about how many views each page on your website gets, along with information about how a user found your website, how long they spent looking at each page, and more. What does Google Tag Manager do?
Google Tag Manager allows you to add marketing tags to your website that helps you track data about your website that can be used for remarketing. You can learn more about Google Tag Manager in their Google Tag Manager Fundamentals guide.
What is remarketing?
Remarketing is marketing a good or service to a potential customer who has already been exposed to your brand. Example: Someone shopping for a storage unit views your storEDGE marketing website. Later, they see a Google ad for your business.
What is a tag?
A tag is a snippet of code that can be added to a website that helps track user behavior, conversions, and makes remarketing simpler. In the past, a developer had to add this code to a website. With Google Tag Manager, you can simply connect the account to your website or Rental Center without needing to know how to add code.
How does adding tags to my site benefit my business?
Tags help track conversions (how many people who visit your site make a reservation or rent a unit) and help you with remarketing. If you are using Google AdWords, using Tag Manager helps you ensure that your company’s Google ads display to people who have already visited your website or Rental Center.
